Liverpool close to Nuri Sahin deal?

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre is reportedly in Spain as the club attempt to secure a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.

The 23-year-old, who struggled for form last season, has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal before the end of the transfer window.

However, according to AS, Ayre is currently locked in talks with the player's agent and a deal could be completed this week.

Sahin joined Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2011.
