Liverpool, Arsenal lead Eric Abidal race

Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal are the leading contenders to sign Barcelona defender Eric Abidal during the summer, according to The Mirror.

The 32-year-old's contract will expire at the end of the current campaign and he has reportedly refused Barca's offer of a new deal.

As a result, the France international will be a free agent and his representative is believed to have made his availability known to potential suitors.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the former Lyon and Monaco left-back.
