Liverpool agree a deal in principle to sign Aly Cissokho on a season-long loan from Valencia.

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Valencia to take full-back Aly Cissokho on loan for a season, according to reports.

Sky Sports News reports that Cissokho will have to undergo a medical at Anfield after the two clubs settled on a deal.

Brendan Rodgers has been desperate to sign a defender all summer but it had appeared that Sunderland had been closer to completing a move to bring Cissokho to the Stadium of Light.

Cissokho, who joined Valencia from Lyon in 2012, has made only 11 appearances for the Spanish side.

The 25-year-old has previously enjoyed spells at FC Porto and Vitoria Setubal, while also making one appearance for the French national team.
