Jonjo Shelvey thanks Liverpool fans

Departing Jonjo Shelvey has paid tribute to the Liverpool fans for the support that they gave him during his three years at the club.

The midfielder's Anfield departure was confirmed this afternoon, with the 21-year-old having agreed a £5m transfer to Swansea City.

"Just wanna say thank you to every one of the Liverpool fans for there support! They were first class. And will be truly missed," he wrote on Twitter.

"Will miss rhe city very much. And the club! Owe a lot to everyone there! Thank you. Time to start a new chapter in life in Wales. Thank you."

Shelvey joined the Reds in May 2010 from Charlton Athletic.
