Steven Gerrard: 'It's important to keep Daniel Agger'

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits that it's "very important" to keep Daniel Agger at the club.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that it's "very important" that the club keep Daniel Agger.

The Reds are understood to have recently turned down a £13m bid for the defender from Premier League champions Manchester City.

When asked if it was important to keep Agger, Gerrard told ESPN: "It's very important, he's a top player, he's been here for seven years now, he's one of the fans' favourites.

"He shows passion and commitment every time he plays. It might be one of those situations where it's not in Daniel's hands, and it's up to the owners at the end of the day.

"The manager has gone on record and said that every player has got his price, so we'll have to wait and see, but of course if you ask me I want him to stay. I want all our best players to stay."

Gerrard was speaking after Liverpool's 3-0 win over FC Gomel in the qualifying round of the Europa League.
