Espanyol deny any interest in Emile Heskey

Espanyol sporting director Ramon Planes has denied that Espanyol are interested in signing Emile Heskey.

Heskey is available on a free transfer after being released by Aston Villa at the end of last season, but Planes has revealed that the Spanish club will not be signing the 34-year-old striker.

Planes told Sport: "I know about the rumours in the papers but we are not interested in Heskey or any other footballer.

"The squad is closed and the coach has not demanded any more players."

The former England international has also been linked with Liverpool and Norwich City.
