Liverpool's director of football Damien Comolli says that a number of "big players" around Europe are interested in signing for the Reds.

Liverpool's director of football Damien Comolli has revealed that a number of "big players" want to sign for the Reds in the summer.

The Merseyside club claimed their first trophy in six years by winning the Carling Cup after defeating Cardiff City in the final at Wembley.

Despite uncertainty over whether Liverpool will compete in the Champions League next season, Comolli has claimed that players around Europe are interested in the Reds' "project".

"We already know that there are big players who want to join us next summer because they believe in the project," Comolli told Sky Sports News.

"Everybody in Europe knows what Liverpool football club are trying to do. Obviously the fact that we're back playing in Europe and we've won the trophy, it's all positive things.

"There's a very positive vibe around the club around Europe. A lot of players I know are very interested about joining the project because it's a very interesting project."

Liverpool have the chance to claim a second piece of silverware this season as they remain in contention for the FA Cup.
