Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers coy on the prospect of signing more players

Brendan Rodgers refuses to confirm or deny if there are plans in place to add more players to the Liverpool squad.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has refused to confirm or deny if the club are preparing to bring more players into the squad after signing six new faces.

The Merseyside outfit have acquired James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Nathaniel Clyne so far in this window.

With the Reds due to receive a reported £49m sum for selling Raheem Sterling to Manchester City, there are suggestions that the club will dip into the transfer market again.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, but when asked by reporters if there were plans to add more players to the squad, Rodgers said: "My only interest is to talk about players that are here with us on the tour - these are the most important players for Liverpool at this moment in time.

"Maybe in the future that is something that will happen or may not happen. For me, as I sit here as the manager, the most important players are [the ones] that are here to work and prepare for pre-season.

"I think it was important for us to improve and build the squad for this coming season. We're very pleased with the players we've brought in."

The Reds finished sixth in the Premier League last season.
