Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. West Ham United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham United.

Liverpool will aim to apply the pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City when West Ham United make the journey to Anfield on Saturday evening.

Jurgen Klopp's side followed up their EFL Cup triumph with a 2-1 success over Norwich City in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday, with Takumi Minamino at the double for the Reds.

While Liverpool were busy collecting their ninth EFL Cup last weekend, Man City moved six points clear at the top of the rankings, but the Reds do have a game in hand.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with the Hammers.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: Unknown

Joel Matip will miss the meeting with the Hammers after contracting an illness - which Klopp affirmed was not COVID-19 - and it remains to be seen when the defender will be fit to return,

Roberto Firmino

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Roberto Firmino's muscular problem continues to bedevil him, and the Brazilian attacker was not ready to take on Norwich in midweek, making a comeback on Saturday seem extremely unlikely.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: March 8 (vs. Inter Milan)

The hamstring injury that Thiago Alcantara suffered in the warm-up for the EFL Cup final is not as serious as first feared, but he will miss out this weekend ahead of a possible return against Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Curtis Jones

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: March 5 (vs. West Ham)

Curtis Jones was taken off at half time in the win over Norwich after 'feeling something' in his thigh, but his issue is not thought to be serious and he could be in contention for a place in the squad here.

Naby Keita

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: March 5 (vs. West Ham)

Klopp revealed at his pre-match press conference that Naby Keita would need to be assessed due to an unspecified issue, so the midfielder is a major doubt for this contest.
