Sports Mole previews this Sunday's Premier League encounter between Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Liverpool will be hoping to overcome their League Cup exit with a Premier League win at Anfield over Newcastle United this Sunday.

The Merseyside outfit were crushed by manager Brendan Rodgers's former club Swansea City in the League Cup in midweek and the North West outfit head into this weekend's contest with just one league home win under their belts.

While Newcastle finished above the Reds last season and are currently three points above them in the league table, the Magpies have failed to win at Anfield in the last 18 years.

Rodgers could welcome goalkeeper Pepe Reina back into the fold after the Spaniard recovered from injury, while full-back Glen Johnson could also be fit to feature in the starting XI on Sunday.

Due to a lack of reinforcements in the forward roles, Luis Suarez is expected to shoulder the pressure of finding the net, while youngsters Raheem Sterling and Suso could be picked to provide service to the Uruguayan.

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is likely to opt for Hatem Ben Arfa in a wide role, with James Perch and Yohan Cabaye controlling the midfield. Striker Demba Ba is expected to have a late fitness test ahead of the clash.

Recent form:

Liverpool: LWDWD

Newcastle: WDLDW

Possible lineups:

Liverpool: Reina; Wisdom, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson; Allen, Gerrard; Shelvey; Sterling, Suarez, Suso

Newcastle: Krul; Simpson, Coloccini, Williamson, Santon; Ben Arfa, Perch, Cabaye, Gutierrez; Ba, Cisse

Sports Mole says: 2-1
