Brendan Rodgers hails Luis Suarez

Brendan Rodgers hails Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after the Uruguayan produced another glowing display in the 3-1 win over Cardiff City today.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has lauded the contribution of Luis Suarez in the 3-1 win over Cardiff City at Anfield this afternoon.

The Uruguay international, who extended his contract with the club on Friday, produced yet another impressive display for the Reds, hitting two first-half goals either side of a Raheem Sterling strike.

Sterling's goal was borne out of the 26-year-old's decision to pass rather than shoot in a one-on-one with City keeper David Marshall, and Rodgers could not mask his admiration for his talisman at full time.

He told the club's official website: "It shows you the team player that he is.

"I thought he showed great humility as well, when Daniel Agger came on the field, he brought the armband straight to him because he's the vice-captain.

"It shows you the humility of the man. Two brilliant goals, a genuine world-class player. The pivotal point of the team is really exciting and dynamic at the moment."

Rodgers's men, who currently sit at the summit of the Premier League table, could remain there at Christmas if Arsenal fail to beat Chelsea on Monday evening.
