Brendan Rodgers: 'Jordan Henderson's England call-up justified'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claims that Jordan Henderson deserves his place in the England squad that plays Denmark next week.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that Jordan Henderson's England call-up is a reward for his current fine form.

Henderson has been a consistent performer in the Reds' engine room all season, and has been included in the Three Lions' squad to play Denmark in a friendly next week.

Rodgers told the club's official website: "It's a wonderful demonstration of how hard he's been working, but importantly how well he's been playing.

"England have got a lot of good midfield players, a lot of outstanding players - and Jordan is up there among them.

"I read a comment a few weeks back from Jack Wilshere talking about Jordan saying he was probably the most difficult opponent he's played against because of how hard he runs, how he presses and how good he is at being on the ball."

Liverpool will also be represented by Raheem Sterling, Glen Johnson, Daniel Sturridge and national team captain Steven Gerrard.
