Brendan Rodgers hails Liverpool performance in West Ham United victory

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers hails his team's display as they beat West Ham United 2-0 in the Premier League, only days after their League Cup excursions.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has hailed his side's performance after they beat West Ham United 2-0 on Saturday.

Daniel Sturridge marked his first appearance since August with a goal to add to Raheem Sterling's opener, and Rodgers was delighted with the Reds' display after they played 120 minutes in exiting the Capital One Cup to Chelsea in midweek.

Rodgers told Sky Sports News: "It was a very good performance against a team that are difficult to beat and they've had a wonderful season so far West Ham, so I thought the players were brilliant today.

"One the back of 120 minutes during the week [against Chelsea], West Ham came into it fresh and we knew they wanted to make a quick start, and they started well. We had to make sure we competed and battled and I thought as the first half wore on we found the spaces and got two good goals.

"We've four clean sheets in six games and it was a very very good performance that keeps out momentum going."

The result leaves the Reds four points off fourth spot in the Premier League table.
