Neville compares Alexander-Arnold to Beckham, De Bruyne

Former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville has been impressed by Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and has compared him to David Beckham and Kevin De Bruyne.

The 22-year-old got the assist for Mohamed Salah's 100th Premier League goal during the Reds' 3-0 triumph against Leeds United on Sunday, and he created the most chances throughout that game from his right-back position.

Gareth Southgate has played Alexander-Arnold in a midfield role for England, but Neville insists that, while comparing him to Beckham and De Bruyne, the Scouser's best position is full-back.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Neville said: "He's the best passer of a ball at right-back that I've ever seen. He's David Beckham and Kevin De Bruyne at right-back. I loved him against Leeds. He was breathtaking.

"The midfield thing is a no-go for me. I think Southgate had 10 players he had to get into the game against Andorra and Reece James went to right-back and he went to midfield, I think that was temporary."

Alexander-Arnold has produced 46 assists in 183 appearances for the club, since making his first-team debut in 2016.
