Garry Monk: 'We did not get what we deserved following defeat at Liverpool'

Swansea City boss Garry Monk states that his side did not get what they deserved after falling to a 1-0 defeat away at Liverpool in the Premier League.

Swansea City coach Garry Monk has insisted that his players did not get what they deserved after falling to a slender 1-0 defeat away at Liverpool on Sunday.

The Swans produced an admirable display at Anfield, but were eventually undone after James Milner converted a controversial penalty to condemn Monk and his men to a third defeat in their last four league games.

"I am gutted for my players as they were excellent. It was a very soft penalty and it is a shame for the the players as they were excellent today. I have no complaints over the performance," said Monk, according to BBC Sport.

"I did think penalties had to be deliberate. Neil's back is turned. It was very soft. We didn't look like a team in trouble. We are not going to make excuses, I know we need results but if we play like that it is a given.

"It was an excellent performance which deserved much more than it got. I take full responsibility for this period. You can see players are working hard to put it right."

Swansea currently occupy 15th spot in the Premier League standings after 14 games played.
