Mohamed Salah becomes the first player ever to score on the opening day of the Premier League in five consecutive seasons as Liverpool ease past Norwich City.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has broken a Premier League opening-day record following his side's 3-0 success over Norwich City.

The Egyptian winger had a hand in all three of Liverpool's goals at Carrow Road on Saturday evening, setting up Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino before converting himself in the 74th minute.

Salah had already established a reputation as an opening-day specialist before the 2021-22 campaign got underway, and his strike at Norwich has now earned him a place in the history books.

The 29-year-old had previously scored on the opening day four seasons in a row since the start of the 2017-18 campaign, and he has now become the first player ever to score on the opening day in five consecutive Premier League seasons.

Salah's first Premier League game with Liverpool saw him net in a 3-3 draw with Watford back in August 2017, while he notched up a hat-trick in a pulsating 4-3 success over Leeds United in the inaugural weekend of the 2020-21 season.

The former Chelsea and Roma man now boasts a total of 126 goals and 49 assists in 204 games for Liverpool, although he is yet to commit his future to the Reds beyond 2023.
