James Milner: "Liverpool are in the box-seat"

James Milner insists that Liverpool are in the "box-seat" as Manchester City prepare to visit Anfield.

Manchester City midfielder James Milner has claimed that Liverpool are in the "box-seat" ahead of Sunday's meeting between the two title contenders.

Liverpool, who are currently top of the Premier League table, will host Manuel Pellergini's side at Anfield knowing that a victory would edge them a step closer to the title. Milner believes that City's experience of winning the league in 2012 may be crucial at this stage of the season.

"We've been here before and have won the title recently whereas Liverpool haven't won one for a long time and whether that comes into play or not, I don't know," the England international told the club's official website. "As the finishing line gets closer, games that looked easier a few weeks ago prove to be anything but.

"It's still in our hands because if we win seven games, we'll be the champions, but Liverpool are in the box-seat because they are top and have the points already on the board so for me, they have to be favourites as things stand.

"We have the ability and experience to finish the job and it's going to be an exciting finish for the neutrals."

Liverpool's last league title was won in 1990.
