Liverpool to launch improved offer for Joe Allen?

Liverpool will make an improved offer for Joe Allen this week, according to reports.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is a keen admirer of the 22-year-old, whom he managed at Swansea City, and will bid around £15m for the Welsh international, according to The Sunday Mirror.

The deal could see Reds midfielder Jonjo Shelvey move the other way on a season-long loan deal.

Allen was part of the Olympic Team GB side that were beaten on penalties by South Korea at the quarter-final stage last night.
