Adam Lallana 'can't imagine' Liverpool without captain Steven Gerrard

Adam Lallana says that he 'can't imagine' Liverpool being without Steven Gerrard as the club prepares for the captain's departure.

Adam Lallana believes that Steven Gerrard will only be fully appreciated for what he has done at Liverpool when he leaves.

The midfielder will close the curtain on a 17-year senior career at Anfield when he joins MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in July.

The 34-year-old has just three games left to play in his Liverpool career, and Lallana believes that his teammate will be greatly missed next season.

"You can't really imagine Liverpool without a player like Stevie," Lallana told the Liverpool Echo. "I don't think what he's done will really be put into context until after he's left. Like everything in life, you don't appreciate things as much as you should until they're no longer there.

"It will be strange when we come back for pre-season and he's not around and when we turn on the TV we see him wearing an LA Galaxy shirt."

Gerrard joined Liverpool when he was just eight years old.
