Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard reveals that former England striker Gary Lineker was his idol growing up.

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has revealed that former England striker Gary Lineker was his idol growing up.

The 31-year-old, speaking ahead of England's clash with San Marino on Friday, also revealed that he had a poster of the former Tottenham Hotspur striker on his bedroom wall.

"I had him on my bedroom wall. He was someone who I looked up to growing up," Gerrard told reporters.

Gerrard has 98 England caps to his name.
