Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard moves quickly to defend Kenny Dalglish after the defeat to Bolton.

Steven Gerrard has claimed that it is "ludicrous" that Liverpool fans are calling for Kenny Dalgish to be sacked as manager.

Dalglish's side drew criticism after losing 3-1 to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, but Gerrard believes that the players should take responsibility for the performance.

"The few whispers about a change of manager after one defeat are ludicrous to me - it's absolutely ludicrous and I just take no notice to that at all," he said.

"For me the thing that needs to change is the people who are here need to try and not put in performances like the one against Bolton and get back to the way we've been 95% of the time under Kenny which has been very good."

Liverpool are currently seventh in the Premier League.
