Napoli boss Rafael Benitez hints at Liverpool return to rejoin family

Rafael Benitez suggests that he wants to return to Liverpool in the future because his wife and children still live in the city.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has suggested that he may return to Liverpool in the future in order to rejoin his family.

The Spaniard, who spent six years on Merseyside coaching the Reds, is at the centre of rumours that he could leave the Serie A club at the end of the season as he is yet to be offered a new contract.

The 54-year-old came close to guiding Napoli to the Italian title last season and also got the club back in the Champions League for the first time in five years, but the Spaniard has suggested that he wants to return to Merseyside to be with his family.

"My wife and two daughters live in Liverpool," The Mirror quotes Benitez as saying. "It's the first time I haven't had them with me, it's not easy. [Napoli owner Aurelio] De Laurentiis knows how important my family values are to me."

Benitez, who won the Champions League and FA Cup with Liverpool, left Anfield in 2010.
