John Aldridge wants Liverpool to "knuckle down" at Stoke City

Liverpool legend John Aldridge calls for his former club to "knuckle down" when they travel to Stoke City this weekend.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has called for the players to "knuckle down" when they travel to Stoke City this weekend.

The Reds play the Potters at the Britannia Stadium, and the former striker wants to see the squad stand up to the physical challenge that their opponents will pose.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "It will be a tough game for Liverpool at Stoke City on Sunday. They play a bit more in midfield under Mark Hughes but they are still direct and physical.

"Our record at the Britannia Stadium hasn't been great in recent years and there's always a great atmosphere there.

"Everton found it difficult the other week but we have to knuckle down and match them for spirit and desire. If we play the way we can and give Luis Suarez the ammunition he needs then it's a game we can win."

Brendan Rodgers's side are currently fourth in the Premier League.
