John Aldridge: 'Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto need time to adapt'

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge feels that new signings Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas will need time to adjust to the Premier League.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has urged the club's fans to give summer signings Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto time to settle at Anfield.

Aspas arrived from Celta Vigo for around £7.7m while Alberto was brought in from Sevilla for a reported £6.8m, and the former Reds striker thinks that both players will need time to adjust to the rigours of the Premier League.

"We need to give Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto time to adapt," Aldridge wrote in his column in the Liverpool Echo.

"Aspas has said that the biggest difference between playing in England and Spain in the physical nature of the Premier League.

"The former Celta man is learning that English football is not for the faint hearted. In England Aspas is learning that you have someone on you as soon as you get it."

Meanwhile Aldridge has claimed that Luis Suarez may struggle to regain his place in the side due to their current good form.
