Wednesday's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup: Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri, David Silva

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Liverpool on Wednesday, August 19.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Liverpool eye possible reinforcements.

Jurgen Klopp's champions have not been particularly busy during recent windows, but that has not stopped the rumour mill from linking them with additions.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Anfield.

Wednesday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:

Thiago Alcantara 'agrees four-year Liverpool contract'

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has reportedly moved closer to securing a transfer to Liverpool.

With less than a year remaining on his contract, Thiago is ready to leave the Allianz Arena, preferably for a switch to the Premier League champions.

As it stands, Liverpool are yet to agree a fee with Bayern, who are looking to recoup a fee in the region of £27m.

However, according to RMC Sport, the playmaker has already agreed to pen a four-year contract at Anfield.

The report suggests that the Spaniard has also chosen where to live should Liverpool push through a deal over the coming weeks.

Given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, it is unclear whether the Merseyside giants will have to make a sale to accommodate the arrival of the 29-year-old.

Liverpool 'refusing to meet Thiago Alcantara asking price'

Liverpool reportedly have no intention of paying £27m for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

With less than a year remaining on his contract, Thiago has told Bayern that he wishes to take on a new challenge this summer.

That has allegedly led to interest from Liverpool, who are keen to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga champions as soon as possible.

However, according to The Guardian, officials from the Merseyside giants have informed their Bayern counterparts that they will not meet their current asking price.

Due to the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool are reluctant to make many first-team additions ahead of the new campaign.

While the two parties wish to join forces, much could depend on whether Bayern receive any other offers for the 29-year-old.
