Thursday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:

Jurgen Klopp 'makes Raphinha number one attacking target'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified Leeds United's Raphinha as a leading transfer target ahead of this summer's window.

The 24-year-old joined the Whites from Rennes last October and has been in impressive form for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season, scoring four times and contributing four assists in 17 Premier League outings.

A recent report claimed that Liverpool have been monitoring the Brazilian during the 2020-21 campaign ahead of a potential move this summer.

According to France Football, Klopp views the attacker as his number one target in the final third of the field, with the German determined to boost his options in the upcoming window.

Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri have struggled to make their mark when called upon this season, while Diogo Jota, who has scored nine times in 17 outings for the Premier League champions, has been absent since December with a knee injury.

Raphinha has a contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2024, though, placing Bielsa's side in a strong position when it comes to any potential negotiations.

Manchester United 'unlikely to sign Dayot Upamecano this summer'

Manchester United are reportedly unlikely to attempt to sign RB Leipzig central defender Dayot Upamecano during this summer's transfer window.

A €42m (£37.3m) release clause in Upamecano's contract can be activated at the end of the 2020-21 campaign, and a host of teams are said to be in the hunt for the France international.

United have been strongly linked with the 22-year-old amid suggestions that head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be handed funds to bring a new centre-back to the club this summer.

However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 20-time English champions are unlikely to pursue the Frenchman in the upcoming window.

Romano claims that Upamecano is 'appreciated' by United, but the Red Devils 'have never been in advanced talks' to bring him to Old Trafford.

Bayern Munich are thought to be the favourites for the former Valenciennes youngster, although Chelsea and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest.
