Good evening everyone! We've had some great action and some cracking goals over the weekend in the Premier League, but there is still one more game to go in this latest round of fixtures. Can Liverpool maintain their charge for a top-four finish, or will it be Swansea who take the points at the Liberty Stadium?

It's getting quite tight at the top of the table and following Manchester United's win over Tottenham yesterday, Liverpool are now five points away from the final Champions League qualifying spot. You get the feeling that a win is vital today, especially with a huge game against the Red Devils at Anfield on Sunday.

Sitting five places below Liverpool in the table are a Swansea side who have not played in almost two weeks. On that occasion they suffered a 3-2 defeat at Spurs and Garry Monk will surely have been itching to set that right, especially after back to back victories in their previous league outings.

Right, let's check out which players will be stepping out onto the pitch at the Liberty Stadium in just over 50 minutes, as the team news is in!

So, the big headline new as far as Liverpool are concerned is that Steven Gerrard returns from injury, but he is only named on the bench. Joe Allen is chosen to start ahead of him in the midfield, while Mamadou Sakho returns to the defence. The Reds are also without Mario Balotelli, who misses out through illness.

Meanwhile, Swansea have made one change from their last match, as Jordi Amat replaces Federico Fernandez, who is absent through family reasons. Bafetimbi Gomis keeps his place despite fainting at White Hart Lane, but Kyle Bartley is ruled out completely with a knee injury.

Based on current form, there are no teams in the Premier League in better shape than Liverpool. Following a shaky start to the season, the Reds have now gone 12 games in the top flight unbeaten and have been putting in the sort of performances that saw them just miss out on the title last year.

They have claimed some rather impressive scalps too in recent weeks, with victories over top-four rivals Manchester City, Southampton and Tottenham. Since the turn of the year the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson and the fit-again Daniel Sturridge have put in some fantastic displays to really boost their European prospects.

Despite their unbeaten run in the league, they have suffered a couple of blips in other competitions over the last month. At the end of February they were dumped out of the Europa League following a shootout defeat against Besiktas, while last weekend Blackburn held them to a goalless draw in their FA Cup sixth-round tie, leaving them facing an unwanted replay next month.

That rematch against Blackburn comes during a busy run of games for the Reds which could define their season. Quite possibly their biggest match of the entire campaign takes place next Sunday, with rivals Manchester United visiting Anfield. That is then followed by a trip to Arsenal, before their date at Ewood Park.

Let's take a look at the hosts now and Swansea have had a long wait for this match. They were beaten by Spurs 12 days ago were not in action last week due to their early exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Blackburn. With 40 points on the board already they are almost certainly safe from relegation, but a late run for a European spot is probably well beyond their reach.

There is no doubt that the Swans could pull of an upset tonight and despite their patchy form this season, they have earned some memorable results. Just three weeks ago they beat Manchester United at the Liberty, while they have also claimed scalps over Arsenal and Southampton this season.

It did look like Swansea's season could have completely fallen apart after their 5-0 defeat against Chelsea two months ago, but they have won three of their six games since and look in much better shape with some of their key players back in the squad.

With 10 games of the season left it could still turn into a record-breaking end to the campaign for the Swans. It's easy to forget that they have only been in the Premier League for four seasons, with their highest finish coming in 2012/13, when they ended in ninth place. They also need just eight points to beat their previous best tally of 47, so there is plenty left for them to aim for.

Well, we may very well be in for some goals this evening, as the last time these teams met Liverpool romped to a 4-1 victory. Alberto Moreno and Adam Lallana gave the Reds a two-goal lead and although Gylfi Sigurdsson pulled one back, Lallana's second of the game and an own-goal from Jonjo Shelvey sealed the points.

That win for Liverpool stretched their unbeaten run against Swansea to six games and this is generally a fixture they have dominated over the years. In fact, the Swans have won just two of their last 13 games against the Reds and have come out on top in just nine of the 39 games that the clubs have ever played.

PREDICTION: Despite the good run that Liverpool are on, I have a sneaking suspicion that the hosts can get something from today's game. They have had plenty of time to prepare for tonight's clash and will certainly be looking to atone for their defeat Anfield. However, they are not the most solid team at the back and for that reason I will tip this game to finish in a 1-1 draw.

As well as tonight's match in Wales, we've also got a couple of other live commentaries on the go. Reading are taking on Bradford City for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals and the Royals are already two goals up, while there is also action from Spain, where Getafe host Real Sociedad.

KICKOFF! We are underway at the Liberty Stadium!

Swansea almost suffer a defensive calamity with just over a minute played, as Fabianksi scrambles to keep in a poor back pass from Williams, but ends up giving the ball away to Sturridge. Before the striker can take advantage he is closed down quickly by Williams who puts the ball behind from a corner, but the resulting set piece is headed over by Skrtel.

YELLOW CARD! The Swans have settled well after that early lapse at the back and they are looking good down the flanks. On this latest occasion, Taylor gets free down the left, but before he can cross he is hacked down by Henderson, who picks up the first booking of the night.

SHOT! It's a very open game at the moment and Liverpool break at pace with Sturridge picking the ball up in space inside the Swansea half. He is not closed down and advances towards the box before drilling in a low strike, but the ball ends up heading comfortably wide of the post.

The Reds are seeing plenty of possession at the moment and they are shifting the ball around quickly between their midfielders. Meanwhile, the Swans seem to be opting for the direct route as they attempt to spring their pacy wingers in behind.

Swansea look very dangerous on the counter and they break at pace quickly from a Liverpool corner. Shelvey leads the charge through the midfield, before sliding in Gomis down the right. The striker then touches it past Can, but Allen rushes back to stop him from getting a shot away.

Neither side has really taken this game by the scruff of the neck yet and we are still waiting for a clear chance on goal. There does seem to be plenty of space to exploit, so it shouldn't be too long until we see some real goalscoring opportunities.

SHOT! Liverpool do indeed work an opening on the edge of the box, with Lallana picked out by Sturridge. The midfielder then drives in a powerful looking strike, but it is hit straight down the middle and is easily held by Fabianski.

CHANCE! It does look like the Swans are going to get a lot of joy out wide on the flanks and Routledge gets into space before delivering a fine cross for Gomis. The Frenchman then aims a header towards the far corner, but Skrtel is well positioned to nod clear from just in front of the line.

This is a really good spell in the game for the hosts, who are looking dangerous every time they come forward. This time Gomis is just unable to control a ball in the box, but it runs through to Sigurdsson at the back post who is denied when Mignolet rushes to claim at his feet.

YELLOW CARD! The Reds pick up their second booking of the match, with Sterling cautioned for a foul on Routledge.

Coutinho has scored some stunning goals in recent weeks and he gets away from Amat, before looking to bend one into the top corner. Once again it's a decent effort, but far too central and comfortably claimed by Fabianski.

SAVE! Gomis is proving to be a real handful for the Liverpool defence and he neatly exchanges passes with Routledge before driving towards the box. He then sets his sights and drills in a low strike towards the bottom corner which brings out a good save from Mignolet, who is up quickly to smother the loose ball.

CHANCE! Some of Swansea's play in this first half has been brilliant and another good team move almost ends with a goal. Taylor latches onto a fine pass down the left, before pulling it back to Sigurdsson inside the box. The Iceland midfielder then works the ball onto his right foot and tries to curl one into the top corner, but he can only place his strike wide of the post.

SHOT! It's another chance for the hosts and Sigurdsson is found right on the edge of the box. Once again he looks to bend a strike into the top-right corner and this time his shot is on target, but Mignolet gets across well to turn the ball behind for a corner.

CHANCE! Swansea come close again from the resulting corner, as Shelvey gets away from his marker to meet a low cross at the front post, before firing in a strike that is heading in, before taking a deflection off Lallana that sends it behind.

We haven't seen too much of a threat from Liverpool in recent minutes, but Sturridge is found in acres of space around 25 yards out from goal. The striker then goes to curl a strike into the corner beyond Fabianksi, but he gets far too much on it and puts the ball over the top.

There is going to be just a minute added on to the end of this first half.

So, it's half time at the Liberty Stadium and we are still goalless between Swansea and Liverpool. The hosts have probably been the better side and have created some very good openings, in a very watchable and open encounter.

Here's a look at how the statistics are looking from the opening 45 minutes. Swansea are well on top in the possession stakes, having seen a hefty 58% of the ball. It's very even in the shots department though, as each team has had six efforts on goal, with only two of those strikes finding the target.

With Steven Gerrard back on the bench for Liverpool, I wonder how long it will be until we see him. The Reds skipper is fully recovered from a hamstring injury and although his team have played well without him in recent weeks, his arrival on the pitch would undoubtedly give a huge boost to those around him.

Right, the players are starting to make their way out of the tunnel and onto the pitch, with the second half now just a few moments away.

Liverpool take the kick off and get the action back underway!

Liverpool have a bit of a problem at the moment, with Lallana down after a challenge from Taylor. There didn't seem to be too much contact between the players, but the England midfielder is now receiving some attention from the medical staff.

YELLOW CARD! Liverpool pick up a third booking of the evening, with Moreno shown a card for a late tackle on Taylor. In the meantime, Lallana is back on and it looks like he's going to be okay to continue.

We're still waiting for our first shot on goal in this second half, with chances very much at a premium. It is all a bit scrappy at the moment, but in terms of possession, Liverpool are enjoying the better of the play.

Finally we do see an attempt on goal, but Henderson's strike from range takes a deflection and goes out for a corner. Liverpool are unable to make anything of the resulting set piece though, which is easily claimed by Fabianski.

CHANCE! Liverpool are really knocking at the door now and they create their best opening of the match. Sterling is slipped in behind down the right and he pulls the ball cross the box for the arriving Coutinho, who then sees his low effort at the front post turned behind by Fabianski.

The Swans have been increasingly pegged back inside their own half since the break, but they have a decent chance to score when they win a free kick just outside their opponents' box. Sigurdsson steps up to take it, but he can't produce one of his trademark efforts and curls it low into the gloves of Mignolet.

SUBSTITUTION: Liverpool are going to make a change here and it's the captain Gerrard who is back for the Reds, with Moreno the man to make way.

CHANCE! It's all Liverpool at the moment and it really does look like a matter of time until they make the breakthrough. They create another decent chance, as Lallana gets in down the left, before pulling the ball back for Allen who can only touch the ball into the gloves of the keeper.

Liverpool have finally taken the lead, but there is a huge slice of fortune about the goal. Henderson races through the middle to get onto a pass from Skrtel and Amat gets there just in front of him. However, the Swansea defender's sliding challenge ends up with the ball cannoning off Henderson and looping over Fabianski before dropping in the back of the net.

SUBSTITUTION: Swansea respond to falling behind by bringing on Routledge in place of Montero.

CHANCE! That goal has given the visitors a huge boost of confidence and they are completely in charge of proceedings. A second goal looks increasingly likely and Coutinho tries again to bend one into the top corner, with his curling strike heading just inches over the bar.

CHANCE! Liverpool are slicing their opponents open at will and Sturridge plays a great pass that sends Sterling free. He is at slightly tight angle and looks to guide one into the far corner, but can only lift his effort over the top.

SUBSTITUTION: It's another change for the Swans, as Ki heads off to be replaced by Dyer.

Swansea really seem to have run out of steam and they just haven't been able to replicate their form of the first half since the break. Credit must go Liverpool though, who have noticeably stepped things up and fully deserve to be in the lead with around seven minutes left to play.

SUBSTITUTION: Johnson is coming on for the last few minutes for Liverpool, with Lallana heading off.

SUBSTITUTION: The Swans make their final sub of the evening, as Sigurdsson makes way with Emnes given a late chance to impress.

We are going to have four minutes of stoppage time.

It looks like Liverpool are going to see this game out and take the points, with their forward players doing well to keep the ball in the corner. Swansea have never really looked like mounting a comeback since falling behind and unless something dramatic happens here it will be a second consecutive league defeat.

OFF THE POST! What a chance for Sturridge to finish the game off. Following a quick break, he is picked out by Sterling on the edge of the box and he shifts the ball onto his right foot, before teasing an effort against the far post.

It's all over at the Liberty Stadium and Liverpool have edged to a crucial three points. Jordan Henderson's fortunate goal was enough to settle the contest and keep his side firmly in the race for a Champions League spot. Swansea played well in the first half, but they visibly faded after the break and can't have any complaints about the final result.
