Liverpool are through to the third round of the Carling Cup after a 3-1 win away at League One Exeter City.

The visitors went ahead on 23 minutes when Luis Suarez's shot beat keeper Artur Krysiak.

The Reds doubled their lead after the break when Maxi Rodriguez hit home Suarez's cut back.

Andy Carroll finished the tie when he struck home from the edge of the area on 58 minutes.

Exeter got themselves a consolation 10 minutes from the end when Daniel Nardiello scored from the penalty spot after Martin Skrtel's foul.
