Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Fulham

Liverpool injury, suspension list vs. Fulham

With ninety minutes separating them from a place in the EFL Cup final, Liverpool travel south to tackle Fulham in the second leg of their semi-final on Wednesday night.

The Reds produced one of their trademark comebacks to triumph 2-1 in the opening Anfield encounter, where Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo responded to a Willian opener.

Still chasing a quartet of trophies this term, Jurgen Klopp's men opened up a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday, easing to a 4-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their second leg with Fulham, who will tackle either Chelsea next month should they overturn their one-goal deficit.

Curtis Jones

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: January 24 (vs. Fulham)

Curtis Jones - whose deflected strike began the Liverpool comeback in the first leg - was hauled off against Bournemouth in the dying embers with a hamstring complaint, although Klopp played down his substitution as a precautionary one, so there is hope that he will be fine to tackle the Cottagers here.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: January 28 (vs. Chelsea)

Having hyperextended his knee against Arsenal in the FA Cup, Trent Alexander-Arnold will spend a bit longer in the medical bay, but he is targeting a return against Norwich City in the FA Cup.

Mohamed Salah

Status: Out Type of injury: International/muscle Possible return date: Unknown

After damaging a muscle at the Africa Cup of Nations, Mohamed Salah was sent back to England to undergo further treatment on the issue, the severity of which remains undisclosed. Nevertheless, the winger remains unavailable for domestic duty at this juncture and could return to Ivory Coast for the AFCON semi-finals if Egypt qualify.

Wataru Endo

Status: Out Type of injury: International Possible return date: Unknown

Over in Qatar, Wataru Endo continues to turn out for Japan at the Asian Cup, and Liverpool will make do without the number six for the trip to Craven Cottage.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: January 28 (vs. Norwich City)

Dominik Szoboszlai has not taken to the field since New Year's Day, sustaining a hamstring problem in that 4-2 win over Newcastle United, but he is making progress in his recovery and is in with a fighting chance of being back for the FA Cup this weekend.

Kostas Tsimikas

Status: Out Type of injury: Collarbone Possible return date: February 4 (vs. Arsenal)

As he went tumbling into the technical area during December's 1-1 draw with Arsenal, left-back Kostas Tsimikas suffered a nasty collarbone fracture, but he is due to return to team training at the end of the month and could be in contention to reunite with the Gunners in February.

Joel Matip

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Fellow defender Joel Matip saw his season come to a premature end against Fulham in December, having picked up a devastating ACL injury, and he still has months of rehabilitation ahead of him.

Andrew Robertson

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Shoulder Possible return date: January 24 (vs. Fulham)

During his pre-game press conference, assistant coach Pep Lijnders confirmed that Andrew Robertson is training again following his lengthy absence with a shoulder injury, and the Scotsman will be a part of the squad for the second leg.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out Type of injury: Hip Possible return date: February 24 (vs. Luton Town)

It has been over nine months since Thiago Alcantara was last seen in a Liverpool shirt, and owing to a couple of complications, Klopp does not expect the Spaniard to be back in team training from a hip injury until next month.

Stefan Bajcetic

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 24 (vs. Luton Town)

Similarly, Stefan Bajcetic will spend the remainder of January working his way back from the calf issue relating to his growth, which he suffered immediately after making a full recovery from his adductor injury.
