Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel suffers injury setback

Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel will be out for at least two more weeks after re-injuring himself in his recovery from a hamstring strain.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Martin Skrtel will be out for another two to three weeks after suffering a new injury in his recovery from a hamstring problem.

Skrtel has not played since mid-December because of the hamstring issue but was expected to make his return to full fitness in the next week.

However, Klopp said today at his press conference before tomorrow's visit of Sunderland that the Slovakian had been re-injured and would be out for at least another two weeks.

Klopp also revealed that Daniel Sturridge was close to full fitness but not quite ready to play against the Black Cats.
