Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge "not much better" from latest injury

Jurgen Klopp says that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is "not much better", but has not been ruled out of Sunday's match against Southampton.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Daniel Sturridge is "not much better" after suffering a knock in training last week, but refused to rule him out of contention for Sunday's Premier League match against Southampton.

The England international is yet to have a consistent run-out in the team as he has been struggling with injuries since the end of last season.

The 26-year-old missed out on Klopp's first game against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday and was not included in the squad for Thursday night's Europa League match against Rubin Kazan at Anfield.

In this afternoon's press conference, Klopp confirmed that Sturridge could feature against Southampton, but only if he is able to train on Saturday.

"It's not much better," Klopp told reporters. "With Daniel's injury we have to see day by day. If he can train tomorrow completely normal he's an option.

"Sturridge will have more treatment today because there is still some fluid on his knee. He will have another scan."

The Reds are currently 10th in the league table.
