The first half ends goalless between Liverpool and Newcastle United at Anfield.

Yohan Cabaye's goal has given Newcastle United a half-time lead over Liverpool at Anfield.

The home side had the better of their opponents in the early stages, with Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez both forcing Tim Krul into action inside the first 20 minutes.

However, their good start was wasted when Hatem Ben Arfa made a terrific burst down the right before standing the ball up to the back post, where Cabaye was waiting.

The French international coolly took the ball down with one touch before lashing past Brad Jones with his right foot to cap a fantastic counter attack.

James Perch suffered an ankle injury, which meant that Alan Pardew had to send on centre-back Danny Simpson in his place.

That means that Vurnon Anita has been moved from right-back and into his normal midfield role.
