Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hands a debut to Virgil van Dijk in the club's FA Cup clash with Everton.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has handed a debut to Virgil van Dijk in the club's FA Cup clash with Everton.

Jurgen Klopp had suggested in the build-up to the Merseyside derby that he was in no rush to include the £75m signing, but the Netherlands international partners Joel Matip on Friday night.

Adam Lallana is given another start in midfield, while Emre Can also features despite reports suggesting that he has just agreed to join Juventus at the end of the season.

Loris Karius is given the nod over Simon Mignolet between the sticks, and Roberto Firmino is a surprise starter with Dominic Solanke only on the bench.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has also opted to name a strong XI for the short visit to their rivals, with Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson both being given starting roles.

Yannick Bolasie also features from the opening whistle for the second time in a week having recovered from a serious knee injury, while James McCarthy starts after making his comeback from a hamstring problem last weekend.

With Michael Keane injured, Mason Holgate and Phil Jagielka are selected in the centre of defence with Ashley Williams only on the bench.

LIVERPOOL: Karius; Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Milner, Can, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Mane; Firmino
Subs: Ward, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Klavan, Ings, Solanke, Alexander-Arnold

EVERTON: Pickford; Kenny, Holgate, Jagielka, Martina; Schneiderlin, McCarthy, Rooney, Sigurdsson, Bolasie; Calvert-Lewin
