Liverpool fan charged with racist gesture

Liverpool fan Phillip Gannon has been charged with making a racist gesture during the FA Cup clash between Liverpool and Manchester United in January.

The 58-year-old has been charged by Merseyside Police with a racially aggravated section five public order offence and a section five public order offence.

The match finished 2-1 to Liverpool, with the man in question seen to be making a gesture on television.

He has been bailed to appear on April 20.
