Jurgen Klopp: 'Liverpool must dictate FA Cup tie against Everton'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says that it is up to his players to dictate the tempo of their FA Cup tie with Everton on Friday night.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that his side must ensure that they control their FA Cup tie with Everton.

Less than a month since the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League, the Merseyside rivals do battle again at Anfield.

Everton counterpart Sam Allardyce is likely to use similar tactics to those that proved successful in their previous meeting, but Klopp has backed his team to dictate the play on Friday night.

The 50-year-old told reporters: "They are looking for the chances and to score a goal. It's not important what Everton are doing. We have to influence it with what we are doing.

"We will have more possession, if they had more it would be a surprise. They are a counter-attacking threat, Bolasie is back, that's a big boost for them. They can make a few changes, they were in a good run in the league before the last two games.

"It's isolated from the season, more opportunity than pressure. There are no real favourites, you have to be ready, to play at Anfield is a big boost for us. Style of play of Everton depends on what we do 100 percent."

Liverpool head into the match having put together a 16-game unbeaten streak in all competitions.
