Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Norwich City

Liverpool injury, suspension list vs. Norwich City

With one Wembley showdown already in the diary, Liverpool seek progression to the FA Cup fifth round when they clash with Norwich City in Sunday afternoon's Anfield battle.

The Reds set up an EFL Cup final date with Chelsea on Wednesday evening, as a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their semi-final with Fulham at Craven Cottage sealed a 3-2 aggregate success.

Jurgen Klopp's side are on track to emulate their domestic cup double from the 2021-22 campaign, although they rode their luck for long periods in their FA Cup third-round tie against Arsenal, whose wastefulness proved costly as the Reds prevailed 2-0.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Norwich, who needed a replay to send Bristol City packing in round three.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: January 28 (vs. Norwich City)

Trent Alexander-Arnold completed the full 90 against Arsenal in the third round before it was revealed that he had suffered a knee injury, but he is due to return to team training by the end of the week and could therefore make his return for the visit of the Canaries.

Mohamed Salah

Status: Out Type of injury: International/muscle Possible return date: Unknown

Mohamed Salah has returned to Liverpool for treatment on the muscular injury he sustained at the Africa Cup of Nations, and the Egyptian's agent recently revealed that his client would spend at least three and potentially up to four weeks on the sidelines.

Wataru Endo

Status: Out Type of injury: International Possible return date: Unknown

In contrast, Wataru Endo has come through his Asian Cup fixtures with Japan unscathed, and the midfielder is still away on international duty for the time being.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: January 28 (vs. Norwich City)

Hamstring victim Dominik Szoboszlai just missed the boat for the trip to Craven Cottage, but he is working with the team again and is expected to be involved on Sunday barring any fresh complications.

Kostas Tsimikas

Status: Out Type of injury: Collarbone Possible return date: February 10 (vs. Burnley)

Kostas Tsimikas immediately underwent surgery to treat the nasty collarbone fracture he sustained against Arsenal in December's Premier League clash, and the left-back will spend a couple more weeks in rehabilitation before being considered for a first-team return.

Joel Matip

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Prior to Liverpool's EFL Cup dates with Fulham, Joel Matip ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against the Cottagers in a December Premier League battle, meaning that the Cameroonian's season is over.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out Type of injury: Hip Possible return date: February 24 (vs. Luton Town)

Thiago Alcantara has already suffered two setbacks in his recovery from a hip injury, which has sidelined him since April, but he should be back in the reckoning at some point in February if his recuperation goes to plan this time around.

Stefan Bajcetic

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 24 (vs. Luton Town)

Similarly, Liverpool are hoping to welcome Stefan Bajcetic back from his carefully-managed calf problem by the end of February, but the Reds are taking no risks with the teenager's developing body.
