Levante 3-1 Real Betis

Goals from Torres, Kone and Bakero earn Levante a 3-1 win over Real Betis and take them into the La Liga top four.

Levante moved into the La Liga top four with a 3-1 win over Real Betis tonight.

The Champions League hopefuls climb above Athletic Bilbao and Malaga with the victory, which came courtesy of goals from Jose Bakero, Xavi Torres and Arouna Kone.

Levante had two early opportunities to open the scoring but Kone had a shot saved by Fabricio before Abdelkader Ghezzal headed wide.

Despite having the minority of possession it was the hosts who took the lead when Bakero found the bottom corner with a free kick.

Shortly afterwards their lead was doubled when Torres converted Juanfran's cross with a smart header on 42 minutes.

There was still time in first half for Betis to pull one back. Jorge Molina was the goalscorer as he struck right-footed past Gustavo Munua from 10 yards.

However, the Granotas restored their two-goal cushion minutes into the second period when Kone applied the finish to a fast counter attack.

Levante face rivals Malaga next weekend while Betis host league leaders Real Madrid.
