Leicester City may reportedly make an approach for Inter Milan defender Robin Gosens during the January transfer window.

Leicester City may reportedly move for Inter Milan defender Robin Gosens during the January transfer window.

The Foxes have endured a dismal start to the new Premier League campaign, letting slip a two-goal lead in their opening fixture before suffering six defeats in sucession.

As it stands, Leicester sit five points adrift of safety in the top-flight standings, a position which has naturally led to speculation regarding the future of Brendan Rodgers.

Although the club's hierarchy have continued to show faith in the Northern Irishman, that may change if his team lose to Nottingham Forest in the East Midlands derby on October 3.

With another six weeks of action before the World Cup, Rodgers is facing a fight to still be in charge at the King Power Stadium for the turn of the year.

Should Rodgers deliver an upturn in results, however, he will likely be provided with some of the funds generated from the sale of Wesley Fofana to make changes to his squad.

According to FcInterNews.it, a portion of that money may be spent on Gosens with the Germany international not a first-choice option at San Siro.

The 28-year-old has made just one start and five substitute appearances in Serie A this campaign, only featuring for a total of 122 minutes.

Although Gosens has played the full 90 minutes in each of Inter's two Champions League fixtures, it was due to Simone Inzaghi wanting to freshen up his team during a hectic opening schedule.

The report suggests that Inzaghi would be willing to part ways with Gosens in order to free up a space in his squad at the midway point of the season.

Inter are also in a position where they may want to boost their financial position having not made the significant sale that they had planned in the summer.

The club's hierarchy allegedly hope that Gosens can enjoy a strong World Cup with Germany in order to boost his price-tag, which remains high due to his contract not expiring until 2026.

Gosens, formerly of Atalanta BC, is capable of playing at left-back or wing-back, his versatility potentially important to Rodgers who has switched between a back three and four this campaign.
