Leeds United make Richie Wellens approach

Leeds United are hoping to sign Leicester City midfielder Richie Wellens this month, according to Sky Sports News.

Boss Simon Grayson is said to have identified Wellens as the ideal replacement for Jonny Howson, who is nearing a move to Norwich City.

Grayson and Wellens have worked together before during the former's stint as manager of Blackpool.

Leicester are believed to be willing to part with 31-year-old Wellens following the arrival of Danny Drinkwater at the King Power Stadium.
