Team News: Jermain Defoe fit to start for Sunderland

Defoe fit to start for Sunderland

Jermain Defoe has overcome a slight knock in time to feature from the off in Sunderland's Premier League meeting with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The England international was doubtful due to an unspecified problem, but he has overcome a fitness test and leads a Black Cats attack that also includes Fabio Borini and Sebastian Larsson.

For the first time since September there is a place in Sunderland's starting lineup for Lee Cattermole, while Didier Ndong also returns to the fold following his recent absence.

Lamine Kone and Jason Denayer start in the centre of defence in John O'Shea's absence, while Adnan Januzaj is only among the back-ups, as boss David Moyes makes three changes to his side.

Champions Leicester, unbeaten in four games under the watch of Craig Shakespeare, go with an unchanged side from the comfortable 2-0 win over Stoke City at the weekend.

Marc Albrighton is back in the squad after overcoming an illness bug that kept him out on Saturday, but Demarai Gray retains his place in a Leicester side missing skipper Wes Morgan once again this evening.

The Foxes have never lost a home Premier League match against Sunderland in 10 previous encounters.
