Leicester City have reportedly shortlisted Lee Carsley as a potential replacement for current head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The 51-year-old is currently in charge of the England Under-21s side, preparing the next generation of Three Lions star to break into Thomas Tuchel's senior squad.
Leicester have broken the relegation trapdoor in recent times, with their demotion back to the Championship confirmed following a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Van Nistelrooy's side have collected just 18 Premier League points across 33 league fixtures to date, representing a miserable return to the top table of English football.
The Foxes have a further five fixtures to fulfill before the conclusion of a woeful campaign, with a trip across the Midlands to face Wolverhampton Wanderers scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
Leicester want Carsley as Van Nistelrooy replacement?
According to The Sun, Leicester have identified another name who could lead their charge back towards the Premier League during the 2025-26 term.
The report claims that the newly-relegated Foxes have shortlisted England Under-21 head coach Carsley as a potential incoming at the King Power Stadium.
As well as the 51-year-old, it is believed that Leicester have also taken an interest in Russell Martin, who was sacked by Southampton earlier in the season.
The Foxes could supposedly poach a current second-tier boss, with the 2015-16 Premier League champions identifying Sheffield Wednesday's Danny Rohl as a possible successor to Van Nistelrooy.
Van Nistelrooy does not want to quit the King Power without receiving compensation, something that Leicester would struggle to provide before June 30 due to financial restrictions.
Would Carsley succeed at Leicester?
Victorious in 24 of his 30 matches in charge of the Young Lions, Carsley has instilled an attractive playing style and winning mentality at youth level for England.
Supporters in the East Midlands may not be aware that the 51-year-old has experience of managing in the Championship, taking charge of both Birmingham City and Brentford for short spells.
With Leicester aiming to repeat their title-winning antics of 2023-24, Carsley could be a shrewd addition to the dugout at the King Power.
