Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri named LMA Manager of the Year

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri is named the League Managers Association Manager of the Year after guiding his team to the Premier League title.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has been named the League Managers Association Manager of the Year.

The Italian coach guided the Foxes to their first top-flight title in their 132-year history this season as they ended the campaign with a 10-point advantage.

The 64-year-old is now one of just two non-British managers to take home the LMA award after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger scooped it in 2002 and 2004.

LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson said: "My congratulations go to the LMA manager of the year sponsored by Barclays, Claudio Ranieri who, in his first year as manager of Leicester City, has achieved the most astonishing of sporting triumphs and thoroughly deserves all the recognition and praise being bestowed upon him tonight."

Ranieri has won three end-of-season awards so far, having been named the Premier League Manager of the Year and Italian Manager of the Year in his homeland.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton was the winner of the Championship award, while Wigan Athletic's Gary Caldwell took home the League One gong and Chris Wilder was awarded for his League Two win with Northampton Town.
