Lineker: 'Ranieri appointment uninspiring'

Former Leicester City striker Gary Lineker has described the appointment of new manager Claudio Ranieri as "uninspiring".

The 63-year-old, who spent four years in charge of Chelsea, signed a three-year deal with the Foxes on Monday.

The Italian takes over from Nigel Pearson, who was sacked last month following his son James's involvement in a racist sex tape.

After Ranieri's appointment was announced, Lineker tweeted: "Claudio Ranieri? Really?"

He added via BreatheSport: "Claudio Ranieri is clearly experienced, but this is an uninspired choice by Leicester. It's amazing how the same old names keep getting a go on the managerial merry-go-round."

Ranieri has managed seven clubs since leaving Chelsea in 2004.
