Leicester City owner targets top-five place

Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha says that he wants the club to finish in the Premier League's top five within three years.

Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has said that he wants the club to achieve a top-five finish in the Premier League within three years.

The Foxes ended their 10-year exile from the top flight this season by winning the Championship title.

Srivaddhanaprabha has revealed that he is prepared to spend up to £180m to achieve a place in European competition.

"It will take a huge amount of money, possibly 10bn Thai Baht (£180m), to get there. That doesn't put us off," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"I am asking for three years, and we'll be there. We won't take the huge leap to challenge the league's top five clubs immediately.

"Do we have a chance to beat them? Yes, we have, but I think we need to establish our foothold in the league first and then we think about our next step."

Leicester last played European football during the 2000-01 season, when they reached the first round of the UEFA Cup.
