Christian Fuchs 'freaked out' by Jamie Vardy goal against Germany

Fuchs 'freaked out' by Vardy goal

Leicester City full-back Christian Fuchs has revealed that he was "freaking out" when club teammate Jamie Vardy scored for England against Germany during the recent international break.

Vardy, who has scored 19 Premier League goals this season to help fire Leicester to the top of the Premier League, announced himself on the international stage with his first England goal, a first-time flicked effort that drew the Three Lions level before they went on to complete an unlikely comeback in Berlin.

Austria international Fuchs said that he was watching in a hotel lobby and was delighted to see Vardy score, especially against the Germans.

"Vardy is flying right now and I am very happy for him that he scored this amazing goal against Germany," Fuchs told Sky Sports News.

"We were sitting in this room in the lobby in a hotel in Austria and there were mainly Germany fans and I was simply freaking out when he scored the goal and at the end when England won. That made me happy.

"First of all because it was Vards - the way he scored the goal was outstanding - and also because it was against Germany."

Next up for Leicester in their bid to win the Premier League is a visit from Southampton on Sunday.
