Leeds United Kessie transfer truth 'revealed' amid speculation over former Barcelona man

Leeds United are reportedly not planning to make an approach for Al-Ahli midfielder Franck Kessie.

The former Barcelona star has spent the last two seasons in Saudi Arabia, contributing 14 goals and nine assists from 77 appearances in all competitions.

However, with just one year remaining on his contract, there is naturally the possibility of an exit during the summer transfer window.

Clubs in Italy, where he has previously represented AC Milan, Atalanta BC and Cesena, are said to be monitoring the situation.

There has also been claims that Leeds are contemplating whether to make an ambitious move for the Ivory Coast international.

Leeds not moving for Kessie

Nevertheless, as per sports broadcaster Ben Jacobs, who are commenting on X, Leeds have no intention of making a formal bid.

The Championship winners from last season have already enjoyed a hugely productive period where a number of additions have been made.

A total of seven senior signings have been made, including central-midfield duo Sean Longstaff and Anton Stack joining Daniel Farke's squad.

While Leeds may still move for another experienced player for the engine room, signing 28-year-old Kessie has seemingly been ruled out.

Leeds staying in their lane?

Despite the stature of Leeds, Kessie possesses the kind of reputation that will almost certainly see him move to a European-participating club if he returns to Europe.

Italian side Fiorentina and Turkish giants Besiktas have already been credited as potential suitors of a player who has 41 goals and 16 assists to his name from 204 appearances in Serie A.

Leeds would have had to break the bank, especially in terms of wages, to see off any rivals for Kessie's signature.

While ambition is being shown at Elland Road, the squad requires the right balance to stay in the Premier League, and funds may need to be allocated smartly when at least £75m has already been spent.
