Report: Leeds United rejected FC Krasnodar bid for Pontus Jansson

Leeds 'rejected Krasnodar Jansson bid'

Leeds United have reportedly rejected an offer of £10m for defender Pontus Jansson from Russian club FC Krasnodar.

The 27-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with Burnley and West Ham United believed to have been interested in the centre-back.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Russian Premier League side Krasnodar made a concrete approach for Jansson before the August 9 deadline set for EFL clubs to complete permanent signings.

The report states that Leeds turned down the offer as they wanted to keep the Sweden international at Elland Road beyond the end of the transfer window, while no English clubs made a move for the player.

Jansson has made 81 appearances for the Championship club since arriving from Torino in 2016 and is contracted until 2022 after signing a new five-year contract in October 2017.
