Transfer news and rumours today: Leeds United preparing formal bid for Everton forward, Edson Alvarez set to leave West Ham

Leeds preparing formal bid for Everton forward: Latest transfer news and rumours today

Leeds United are reportedly preparing to launch a bid for Everton striker Beto.

The promoted club are widely expected to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer, but they are keen to further boost their attack before this summer's market closes for business.

According to Football Insider, Leeds are now preparing to make a formal offer for Beto, with the club willing to pay in the region of £22m to secure his signature over the next couple of weeks.

The report claims that Everton head coach David Moyes has been disappointed with Beto's attitude and application during pre-season, and the 27-year-old is now likely to move on.

Beto found it difficult during his first season at Everton, only managing three Premier League goals, but he was much improved during the 2024-25 campaign, netting eight times in the league and 10 in total.

Calvert-Lewin and Beto could once again be battling for starts in the new season.

Alvarez 'set to leave West Ham' this summer

Meanwhile, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Edson Alvarez is set to leave West Ham United before the summer transfer window closes for business.

Romano claims that 'several clubs' are currently in discussions over a deal for the Mexico international.

Alvarez made the move to the London Stadium from Ajax in 2023, and he has represented the Hammers on 73 occasions in all competitions, including 31 outings during the 2024-25 campaign.

The 27-year-old had been linked with a number of major clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, before West Ham signed him, but the midfielder has struggled to show consistency.

The Mexican has three years left to run on his contract in the capital, though, so Graham Potter's side are in a strong position when it comes to any potential negotiations with interested clubs.

The Hammers are believed to value Alvarez in the region of £30m.

Leicester, Norwich 'in competition' for Ukrainian attacker

Elsewhere, Leicester City and Norwich City are reportedly both interested in signing FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih attacker Yegor Tverdokhlib before the transfer window closes.

The 24-year-old has scored 15 goals and registered five assists in 37 appearances for his current club.

According to Football Insider, Championship duo Leicester and Norwich have identified him as a leading target in the latter stages of the transfer market, but there is also interest from Germany and Turkey.

Tverdokhlib came up with 14 goals and two assists in 24 Ukraine Premier Liga games last season, and it is understood that he could be available for a fee in the region of £17m.

Leicester and Norwich both allegedly believe that signing the Ukrainian would give their Championship promotion hopes a major boost for the 2025-26 campaign.
