Bamford 'set for new and improved Leeds deal'

Leeds United are reportedly planning to open contract talks with Patrick Bamford in the near future.

The 27-year-old has been in impressive form for the Whites during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring 10 times in 17 Premier League appearances.

The stirker's existing deal at Elland Road is due to expire in June 2022, meaning that as it stands, he would be able to discuss terms with foreign clubs next January over a free transfer.

According to The Sun, Leeds are keen to reward Bamford's impressive form this season with a new contract, which would earn him more than the £35,000 a week that he currently collects.

The former England Under-21s international has scored 36 times in 89 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa's side since arriving from Middlesbrough in July 2018.

Bamford hit a treble against Aston Villa in the league earlier this season, while he has also registered against Liverpool, Fulham, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Burnley.
