Derby County moved up five places in the congested Championship table after a narrow 1-0 victory over Leeds United at Pride Park this afternoon.
In a game of few chances, Jamie Ward was the Rams star man, coming closest to opening the scoring when his shot from the edge of the area rebounded off the post.
At the other end, Leeds top-scorer Ross McCormack tested Frankie Fielding in the Derby goal with a well-struck 30-yard effort.
Similarly, the second half produced as few chances but Ward took one of the limited opportunities that came around to give the hosts a 67th-minute lead.
The striker reacted quickly to prod in the rebound from a tight angle after his initial shot was saved by Andy Lonergon.
Derby now sit 13th in the Championship while Leeds remain sixth, eight points adrift of the automatic promotion places.
